Business Profile – Dean L. Jones

Dean Jones is widely recognized and respected for his work to expand, retain, and attract business enterprises to the greater southern California region.  He is a longstanding contract engagement advocate currently serving as the Sr. Economic Development Specialist for the city of Compton CA.  In this role, he works consistently to build-up and manage commerce, by delivering contemporary business services vital to diverse entrepreneurial activities in the expansion, retention and attraction of quality goods and services for the Public who live, work and play in the City of Compton.

Previously, Mr. Jones helped develop the Southland Partnership Corporation, a nonprofit economic development corporation, which is responsible for the POWER Collaborative Network (P.O.W.E.R.Promoting Opportunities with Essential Resources).  Established in 2000, this is a 21st Century human resources service organization delivering capacity building for workforce service providers in the non-profit sectors.  This organization sponsors community job and social services assistance web sites; including but not limited to; OpportunityWeekly.com, IStartOnMonday.com, JobCollaborative.com, TheArtofBidding.com, BlackSuppliers.com, and the PowerCollaborative.org.

A second generation Angelino from the Watts area, Mr. Jones is an educational K-12 student of the Los Angeles Unified School District, and he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration – Accounting from San José State University.  He has received a range of recognition and distinction awards for his work in support of socioeconomic programs, including a special recognition from the California State Legislature for his extensive service and contributions to the regulated utility corporation’s supplier diversity programs.
